Obama Administration Set to Delay Small Business SHOP Exchanges Due to Security Concerns

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee, issued the following statement today after it was revealed that the Obama Administration is delaying the launch of the small business health insurance exchanges, because of security concerns:

“ObamaCare’s been delayed for big businesses, for some state exchanges and now for small businesses.  But where’s the American people’s ObamaCare delay?  Where’s the concern for the privacy and security of the American people’s personal information?,” said Hatch.  “This law is a disaster, but the exchanges – the heart of the law – are supposed to go live in just five days?  Give me a break.  This law will never be ready for primetime, because this is what happens when Washington takes over health care.  It’s time for a permanent delay of this disaster for families, for businesses, for students and for seniors –and I commend House Republicans for including it in their debt ceiling package.”

NOTE:  Senator Hatch has legislation, the Trust But Verify Act, with 31 cosponsors that would delay the launch of the exchanges, where people will buy their Washington-mandated insurance, until the Government Accountability Office (GAO) can certify that the Data Hubs, the online market place to buy insurance is secure.
