Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) commented today following the White House summit on health care reform. Baucus has made health reform his number one priority in 2009.

“The productive, energetic discussion at today’s White House summit on health care reform set just the right tone for the national conversation on fixing our broken health care system. Leaders and stakeholders know that we have to tackle the issues of health care costs, the quality of care Americans receive, and the fact that far, far too many simply don’t have access to the decent medical care theydeserve. Everyone’s clearly ready to move.“

"Just this morning I held a very productive meeting with Finance Committee members to discuss a timeline for moving forward with health reform legislation. The hard work to nail down details is still yet to be done, but important strides were made today toward better health care for the American people.”
