Hatch Statement on Passage of Obamacare Repeal
Utah Senator Says, “Today, Senate Republicans fulfilled our promise to end the negative consequences of Obamacare by repealing the President’s unaffordable health law. It’s now time the Obama Administration and Democrats own up to the law’s failures, reverse course, and work with Republicans to forge patient-centered reforms that reduce costs and improve care for the American people.”
WASHINGTON – Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) today issued the following statement after the Senate passed a measure to repeal Obamacare using the budget reconciliation process:
“The President’s health law has repeatedly failed to live up to many of its promises, and today, patients and taxpayers are experiencing its devastating burdens firsthand. From higher premiums, to more taxes and less choice, Obamacare has unraveled in one direction: a dismal downward spiral that has only worsened with time. The status quo is not acceptable, and American families deserve better.

It’s now time the Obama Administration and Democrats own up to the law’s failures, reverse course, and work with Republicans to forge patient-centered reforms that reduce costs and improve care for the American people.”
Earlier this week, Hatch delivered a floor speech detailing reasons why Senate Republicans are committed to repealing the President’s healthcare law.
Hatch is the coauthor of the Patient CARE Act, a legislative plan that repeals Obamacare and replaces it with cost-addressing measures, with Sen. Richard Burr and Rep. Fred Upton.
