Finance Committee Clears Tax Court Nominee
WASHINGTON – The nomination of Courtney Dunbar Jones to be a Judge on the U.S. Tax Court today unanimously advanced out of the Finance Committee. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) released the following statement:
“I am pleased that the Finance Committee was able to quickly act on this nomination. Ms. Jones is a strong and capable nominee who will fill an important opening on the tax court. As the court is the only way for American taxpayers to contest potentially improper tax liabilities, it is vital that the judges on this court are qualified and accountable. Ms. Jones is both. I hope the Senate will act swiftly to ensure she can begin her work as soon as possible.”
An executive summary, including a breakdown of the vote, will be posted here.
