Wyden Statement on USTR Action Against China’s Poultry Tariffs

Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., released the following statement today on the United States Trade Representative’s announcement that it was taking China back to the World Trade Organization (WTO) for keeping tariffs in place on American poultry products that are not permitted by WTO rules:

“China abused its own trade remedies system in order to hike duties on American exports, and has refused to fix the problem, despite clear findings from the World Trade Organization that what it is doing violates international rules,” Wyden said. “When China breaks trade rules, American workers, farmers, and businesses pay the price.  That is why it is absolutely vital that American trade enforcers use every available tool to hold China to account in defense of American jobs and the American economy.”
