Wyden Statement on Trump Administration Attacks on Worker Protections

Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued a statement following the release of a final rule by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) that would prohibit home care workers from electing to make voluntary union deductions, similar to other customary payroll deductions.

“Once again, Trump and his administration are putting their ideological objectives above the rights of workers,” Wyden said. “Home care workers ought to be able to fight for better working conditions like living wages and basic benefits, but today’s rule places discriminatory barriers in the way. A strong home care workforce is vital to ensuring seniors and individuals with disabilities can receive the high-quality care and services they deserve.”
