Wyden Statement on SCOTUS Ruling Allowing Trump Administration to Implement ‘Public Charge’ Policy

Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued the following statement after the Supreme Court ruled to allow the Trump administration to implement its “public charge” policy:

“Donald Trump's right-wing Supreme Court just handed him a big win in his pursuit to deter legal immigration,” Wyden said. “Immigrant families—who Donald Trump is so determined to vilify—contribute tremendously to our nation and deserve better. The American people deserve better. This cruel policy threatens our economy and will create a poorer, sicker and hungrier nation.”
