Wyden Statement on Release of Commerce Steel and Aluminum Reports

WASHINGTON—Senator Ron Wyden, D-Ore., praised the release of Commerce Department investigation reports on steel and aluminum imports, after he personally asked the president to make those reports public earlier this week.

"I am pleased the administration finally listened and released its reports as I asked, so Americans can see what’s on the table and weigh in. On an issue as critical to jobs and economic growth in manufacturing and other key sectors of our economy, the public shouldn’t be kept in the dark.  It is too soon to tell whether we will see real action from the president, and whether any action he takes will lead to an enduring solution to the many trade challenges facing American workers.

“I am studying the reports carefully, and look forward to hearing from Oregonians and workers across the country about how these proposals will affect them."

Wyden has repeatedly called on the administration to provide more transparency about its trade actions, so all Americans, and not just special interests, can weigh in.
