Wyden Refers NRA Correspondence to the Federal Election Commission
Washington, D.C. – Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today referred his correspondence with the National Rifle Association (NRA) regarding donations from Russian nationals and other contributions to the Federal Election Commission, which reportedly has an inquiry into the NRA’s campaign practices.
Wyden began questioning the NRA’s campaign finance practices in February, following news reports about links between sanctioned Russian official Alexander Torshin and the NRA. The group failed to fully answer a number of Wyden’s questions, including regarding vetting of donors.
Wyden today sent the FEC a transmittal letter, related correspondence, and the NRA’s most recent response, where the group admitted to receiving contributions from more than 20 individuals linked to Russia.
