Wyden asks Treasury Watchdog to Examine Alleged Disappearance of Cohen Records

Wyden is also Seeking Additional Information on Cohen’s Suspicious Financial Activity

Washington, D.C. – In light of new reporting from The New Yorker, Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today asked Treasury’s Inspector General to probe the alleged disappearance of suspicious activity reports (SARs) on Michael Cohen. Wyden has also requested that the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCen) provide the Finance Committee with all financial documents relating to Cohen’s SARs. Last week, Wyden sent a letter asking for financial documents as they related to Cohen’s shell company and Novartis.

The letter to Treasury’s Inspector General asking that he investigate the allegations that SARs on Cohen had been improperly removed can be found here.

The letter to FinCen expanding the request Wyden made last week on Cohen’s financial records can be found here.
