Statement of U.S. Senator Max Baucus on the Confirmation of Congressman Rob Portman for the United States Trade Representative

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) U.S. Senator Max Baucus, ranking member of the Senate FinanceCommittee, released the following statement on the confirmation of Congressman Rob Portmanto be the next United States Trade Representative:

“I’m happy the Senate confirmed the nomination of Rob Portman to be United StatesTrade Representative. Congressman Portman is the right person for the job. In his twelve yearsin the Congress, he has earned a reputation as someone who works across the aisle to get thingsdone. We need more people like him here in Washington.

“His instincts to work together to get things done will be especially important now,during this difficult period in U.S. trade policy. I look forward to working with him over thenext few years.”
