Statement of Senator Max Baucus Regarding Treasury Secretary Nominee John Snow

While Mr. Snow’s recent responses to the Finance Committee’s questionnaire have raised further questions, I look forward to talking with Mr. Snow and obtaining all of the facts. We will fully and thoroughly address these and other concerns during next week’s Senate Finance Committee hearing.

The position of Treasury Secretary is one of the most important positions in the Administration. Mr. Snow will receive a fair hearing, but not a rubber stamp. During this time of economic uncertainty, we need a strong economic team in place and I look forward to working with my colleagues to fill the position of Treasury Secretary in a quick and efficient manner.
