Statement of Senator Max Baucus Announcement of Resolution of Dispute with Russia

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) U.S. Senator Max Baucus, Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Finance Committee, issued the following statement this afternoon, in response to the announcement by U.S. Trade Representative Robert Zoellick concerning the dispute with Russia over U.S. exports of beef, pork, and poultry:

“I am pleased to hear that a resolution to the U.S.-Russia dispute, over U.S. beef, pork, and poultry, has been found. Though I have not seen the details, it is my understanding that the new agreement provides the framework within which a successful, long-term relationship can be developed. Of course, the measure of this agreement will be whether it results in fair market access for U.S.producers. To that end, I will work hard to monitor our trading relationship with Russia, and toensure that this agreement results in a fair deal for Montana producers.”
