Hatch Statement on Job Numbers for June
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee, issued the following statement today after the monthly jobs and unemployment numbers were released for June:
“This latest jobs report shows the failure of Obamanomics. More burdensome and costly regulation, out-of-control spending and the threat of tax hikes on middle-class families and businesses are a choke chain preventing job-creation, economic growth and the recovery this White House promised our nation.
“The American people are demanding leadership, but 800 days later and the Senate Democrats still haven’t put forward a budget. Give me a break. Utahns and Americans need more jobs, not more taxes.”
Today the U.S. Department of Labor reported the nation’s unemployment rose to 9.2 percent in June with employers adding 18,000 jobs to their payrolls in June, following a gain of 25,000 in May. A broader measure of unemployment which includes discouraged workers and the like was 16.2 percent in June.
