Hatch Statement on Chairman Dave Camp's Retirement

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee, today issued the following statement regarding House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp’s (R-Mich.) announcement that he will not seek reelection:

“It’s hard to find someone who works harder and cares more about the issues than Dave Camp.  I’ve seen Dave’s fighting spirit and commitment to strengthening our country firsthand. He’s always been at the forefront of some of the most pressing economic debates of our time, from overhauling our broken tax code, breaking down barriers to trade, or working to increase access to quality health care for more Americans.  Dave understands the type of pro-growth agenda we need to get our economy moving again, and he’s always been willing to work across the aisle and stand up for what he believes is right not only for Michigan, but for our great nation as well.  I’ve been fortunate enough to work with Dave on so many issues and to call him not only a partner on Capitol Hill but a friend as well. He’s truly one of the all-time greats. And though he will be sorely missed, I wish Dave and his family all the best as they begin this next chapter in their life.”
