Hatch on President Signing Russia Trade Bill into Law

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee, issued the following statement today after the President signed bipartisan legislation (H.R. 6156) to grant permanent normal trade relations (PNTR) to Russia and Moldova into law:

"This new law is exactly the type of pro-growth, pro-jobs, pro-business initiative that Congress needs to be enacting. It not only holds Russia accountable to the rule of law, but sends a powerful signal that the United States is not only committed to increasing access to new markets for American products but protecting and advancing the rights of individuals within Russia. I am proud to have been a part of crafting, what I believe to be, a balanced approach to U.S.-Russia trade relations and look forward to working with my colleagues to advance a strong and aggressive international trade agenda, including the renewal of Trade Promotion Authority, to help grow the economy and create more good-paying jobs here at home."
