Hatch: Healthcare.gov’s Glitches are a $400 Million Mistake

Utah Senator Says, “The question the Obama Administration must answer is why weren't the ‘best and brightest’ working on this system from day one? This is a $400-plus million mistake at the taxpayer's expense. It's an embarrassment and, frankly, is all the more reason why this flawed law should be permanently delayed."

SALT LAKE CITY - U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee, today issued the following statement after the President delivered remarks regarding the technical challenges that have plagued healthcare.gov:

"The launch of the ObamaCare exchanges has been nothing short of a disaster that’s rightly earned the derision of comedians and late night talk show hosts and the anger and frustration of the American people. For the first time in our nation's history, every American is required to purchase health insurance even if they don't want it. Yet three weeks into its launch, the web site for people to sign up for insurance still isn’t ready for primetime – and won’t be for some time. The question the Obama Administration must answer is why weren't the ‘best and brightest’ working on this system from day one? This is a $400-plus million mistake at the taxpayer's expense. It's an embarrassment and, frankly, is all the more reason why this flawed law should be permanently delayed."
