Hatch Applauds House Vote to Repeal ObamaCare, Calls for Senate Action

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee, today applauded the U.S. House of Representatives for voting to repeal the President’s $2.6 trillion partisan health law, and urged Democrats in the Senate to allow a vote on the bill as well. Hatch issued the following statement after legislation passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 244-185:

“Utahns and Americans everywhere understand that President Obama’s $2.6 trillion health spending law is a dark cloud hanging over our economy that must go. ObamaCare is a massive Washington power grab that costs more, spends more, and taxes more than the White House let on. I applaud the House for taking this step forward today and I hope the President’s allies in the Senate will listen to the American people and bring this up for a vote quickly.”

NOTE: Hatch has cosponsored legislation introduced by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) to fully repeal the President’s health law, and has championed additional efforts in Congress to strike the law. He has introduced legislation to repeal: the individual mandate (S. 19); the job-crushing employer mandate (S.20); and the medical device tax (S. 17). Hatch also released a fact sheet today outlining the disastrous economic impact ObamaCare is having on the economy.
