Crapo Welcomes Johnson, Tillis, Blackburn to Finance Committee
Washington, D.C.--U.S. Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) today welcomed three new Republican members to the Committee for the 118th Congress: Senators Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin), Thom Tillis (R-North Carolina) and Marsha Blackburn (R-Tennessee).
"The Finance Committee plays a vital role in shaping our nation’s economy, and these three additions join a strong team on the Republican side of the dais who are committed to promoting economic freedom and opportunity for all Americans,” said Crapo. “Whether it’s addressing our national debt, protecting pro-growth tax reforms, expanding access to affordable, quality health care, or providing equal opportunities in our trade deals, Senators Johnson, Tillis and Blackburn are up to the task, and I look forward to working with them on the Committee.”
The Finance Committee has the largest jurisdiction of any congressional committee overseeing over 50 percent of the nation’s budget, including America’s entitlement programs, Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, all tax policy, international trade, several welfare programs and the nation’s debt.
