Crapo Announces Finance Committee Staff Updates
Washington, D.C.--Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) today announced the following staff updates to the Committee’s tax and economic teams:
Before joining the Committee, Michael was a senior attorney at the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) Office of Chief Counsel for over a decade, advising on corporate and pass through entity tax laws, such as provisions dealing with mergers and acquisitions, spin offs and multiple taxpayer relief provisions. Before public service, he held positions at national accounting firms and a Fortune 500 company. Michael earned an LL.M. in Taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center, a J.D. and B.A. from the University of Kansas, and is currently an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center.
Lara Rosner, Social Security Policy Advisor
Lara joins the Committee from the Office of U.S. Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine), where she served as a Senior Policy Advisor for issues related to Social Security, retirement plans, education and labor, among other issues. She has also worked for the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee, Subcommittee on Social Security, as a Professional Staff Member; AARP as a Federal Strategy Director; and the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) as an auditor. She holds a B.A. in Economics from Barnard College, Columbia University, and an M.P.P. from the Harvard Kennedy School.
James Williams, Tax and Economic Policy Advisor
James joins the Committee from the Office of U.S. Senator John Thune (R-South Dakota), where he advised the Republican Whip on tax, international trade and economic policy issues. Before Senator Thune’s office, he served as Deputy Legislative Director and Senior Economic Policy Advisor to U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-Kansas); Deputy Legislative Director and Senior Policy Advisor to U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah); and Legislative Director to U.S. Representative Kenny Marchant (R-Texas). James holds a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, and an M.S. from the London School of Economics.
