Baucus Announces New Finance Committee Communications Director

Carol Guthrie Takes Reins of Committee’s Press Shop

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) U.S. Senator Max Baucus announced today that Carol Guthrie willjoin the Finance Committee as Communications Director. Guthrie will lead the day-to-day pressoperation for Democratic staff of the Finance Committee.

Currently serving as Communications Director for Finance Committee member RonWyden (D-OR), Ms. Guthrie has been handling Senator Wyden’s national and local press forover four years. Before working for Senator Wyden, Ms. Guthrie’s career includes broadexperience in broadcast journalism and work on political campaigns.

“Carol brings a wealth of press experience to our Finance Committee team,” Baucus said.

“She will keep the public well-informed of the action happening in the Finance Committee. Ilook forward to having her join our staff.”

Ms. Guthrie will be filling the Communications Director position after Thanksgiving andcan be contacted at the Finance Committee’s main line at 202-224-4515. Ms. Guthriegraduated with honors from Samford University in Birmingham, AL, where she earned aBachelor of Arts in Journalism/Mass Communication and English.
