Re: Release of the Affordable Health Care for America Act
Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) commented today following the release of health reform legislation in the House of Representatives this morning.
From Chairman Baucus:
“Today, too many American families are forced to file for bankruptcy because they can’t pay their medical bills, too many small businesses can no longer afford to offer health care coverage to their employees and too many workers are at a disadvantage because health care costs are hampering America’s economic competitiveness. I applaud the work of my colleagues in the House of Representatives to bring this country one step closer to reforming our broken health care system. What is clear today is that both houses of Congress are united in their effort to lower health care costs and provide quality, affordable coverage. I intend to continue working together with leaders in the House and in the Senate to pass comprehensive health care reform that President Obama can sign into law this year.”
