MEMORANDUM

Re: The President’s announcement on job-creation tax policy

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) issued the following statement today after President Obama announced his plans to enact a job-creation tax package. The Finance Committee has jurisdiction over U.S. tax policy.

From Chairman Baucus:

“Working families in Montana and across the country are struggling with an economy that isn’t creating the jobs Americans need or the opportunities they want, so I applaud the President’s continued commitment to targeted tax policy that will spur job creation. Today, the President affirmed that recovery should invest in small businesses – the engine of the American economy. Creating jobs throughout our economy and building a strong middle class are goals the President and I share, and I’ll work in the coming weeks and months to deliver job-creation policies to his desk.”
