Wyden Statement on Nomination of Jamieson Greer for U.S. Trade Representative
Washington, D.C. – Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden, D-Ore., released the following statement today on the announcement that Jamieson Greer will be nominated to serve as U.S. Trade Representative:
“Donald Trump has promised to fund tax cuts for the rich with massive tariff price hikes on the products that regular families buy every day. I’m looking forward to learning how Mr. Greer plans to carry out Trump’s scheme to hike consumer prices, and how American workers and businesses will be impacted when prices go through the roof for the materials they use to manufacture Made-in-the-USA goods.
“In the first Trump administration, there was a lot of big talk about enforcing trade laws, but not a lot of action. The next USTR has a lot of work to do to crack down on trade cheating. Across-the-board tariff hikes, or trade chaos without a clear goal, won’t do the job for Americans who need results.”
