Wyden Statement on IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel’s Departure

Washington, D.C. — Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued the following statement on IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel’s announcement that he will leave the agency this weekend: 

“Danny Werfel has been an exceptional IRS commissioner. He oversaw historic improvements in taxpayer service, and he will leave the IRS in much better shape than he found it. When you’re an IRS commissioner appointed by a Democrat, it’s next to impossible to get Republicans to say nice things about you, but Commissioner Werfel did because he’s hardworking, direct and fair. America’s taxpayers are better off today, and millions of them have saved money filing their taxes, thanks to his service and his leadership.”
