Wyden Statement on Final Rules Promoting Good-Paying Clean Energy Jobs in America
Washington, D.C. — Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued the following statement today on the Treasury Department and IRS’s release of final rules regarding prevailing Wage and apprenticeship requirements passed in the Inflation Reduction Act:
“The Inflation Reduction Act is not only the biggest action ever taken on the climate crisis, it’s also proof that you can address climate and create high-wage, high-skill jobs at the same time. This was a major win for American workers that wouldn’t have made it across the finish line without the efforts of Senator Casey, who is always a champion for working people and manufacturing in this country. The idea that fighting climate change would end up hurting vast numbers of American workers was a fabrication by Republicans and their Big Oil donors all along. If Republicans are in control in 2025, they’re going to try to tear down the climate and energy reforms we passed in the Inflation Reduction Act, including these protections and benefits for workers. That would be a disaster for working people, and by making our energy economy a lot less competitive, it would be a gift to the Chinese government. Democrats are going to fight to protect the Inflation Reduction Act and continue to put the interests of working people front and center with every opportunity.”
