Welcoming a New Tax Code

Republican Leaders Tout Tax Reform’s Benefits Across the Nation

out with the old

As Americans submit their 2017 tax filings, they can wave good-bye to the old tax code, making way for a new tax code fit for the 21st-century economy. Check out these recent op-eds and news stories of leaders praising the sweeping benefits of tax reform – including higher wages, business investment, and more money in the pockets of American workers and families:

North Dakota: Our Tax Cuts are Working in North Dakota
Vice President Mike Pence: “Under our tax cuts, the first $24,000 in income for a married couple is now tax-free, the child tax credit is twice as high, and 90 percent of working families will soon see the tax cut reflected in their paychecks. All told, we estimate the typical North Dakota family of four will see a tax cut of over $2,600.”

Kentucky: Your Last Time Filing Taxes Under Old System

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.): “The results are clear: the new tax law is working in Kentucky. Families and workers have more money in their pockets and small businesses have the chance to grow and succeed. Thankfully, this is the last time you will have to use the outdated individual tax system. Many hard-working Kentuckians will continue to enjoy the full benefits of tax reform as its impacts grow.”

Texas: Making the American Dream Reachable
U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas): “We can get the economy growing again, so people can find work. They can have more take-home pay and they can provide for their families and have the sort of things that, perhaps, they had come to believe were just luxuries and things they could not afford. So really, it’s about the American Dream.”

Ohio: Tax Reform is Helping Create Optimism, Opportunity for Gallia Workers and Families
U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio): “Now our companies are expanding and business optimism is growing, and the most direct benefit of the business tax reform goes to workers and families—in Gallipolis and across the state.”

Pennsylvania: Tax Cuts Spur Carpenter Tech to Invest $100M in its Reading Plant
U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.): “This is exactly the type of capital investment we envisioned as a direct benefit of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act … It’s vitally important for Pennsylvania families that local companies increase their operations at home and provide high-paying jobs with a stable future. I’m pleased Carpenter is making such a strong commitment to Pennsylvania.”

West Virginia: Tax Reform is Working for West Virginia
U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.): I recently sat down with a group of small businesses owners in Huntington to hear how they are benefiting from the new tax law. It was so refreshing to finally hear that West Virginia small businesses are feeling increasingly optimistic about the future. And not only are they excited about how tax reform will help them grow and succeed, but they are also excited about how recent tax reforms will help their families.”

Iowa: Iowans Benefit from GOP Tax Cuts and Reform
U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa): “For too many years, hiring was sluggish and wages were stagnant due to unnecessarily high tax rates on businesses and individuals. That’s why it’s no surprise that the tax cuts have reignited the economy and created an optimism among business owners not seen in decades. The results of that optimism are apparent in the growing number of companies investing resources back into their businesses and employees.”

Missouri: Tax Reform Benefitting Families Throughout Missouri
U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (R-Mo.): I recently visited two small businesses, one in Owensville and one in Montgomery City, and it was clear the new tax code is already paying off for employees and local jobs, and laying the groundwork for stronger growth in our communities.”
