Roth Comment on Governor Bush's Medicare Proposal
WASHINGTON -- The following is the statement of Senate Finance Committee Chairman William V. Roth, Jr. (R-DE), regarding the Medicare proposal unveiled by Governor George W. Bush this morning:
"I am pleased that Governor Bush has endorsed comprehensive Medicare reform and put forward a short-term solution for our most vulnerable Medicare beneficiaries. In July of this year, I proposed a similar plan for low-income Medicare beneficiaries.
"Over the next five weeks, the Finance Committee will continue to work toward both comprehensive and short term solutions to the challenges facing Medicare. It is my intention to introduce legislation shortly that can immediately address the needs of our most vulnerable seniors while we work on a comprehensive solution to Medicare's challenges."
