Repealing Normal Trade Relations with Russia in Response to Ongoing Russian Invasion of Ukraine
Washington, D.C. -- Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden, D-Ore., called on Congress to swiftly enact bipartisan legislation to repeal Permanent Normal Trade Relations with Russia, following introduction of a new bill by House Ways and Means Chair Richard Neal, D-Mass., and Ranking Member Kevin Brady, R-Texas.
“It is past time to cut off Vladimir Putin’s regime from the benefits of the global trade system. This bill sends the message that Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine, and its army’s indiscriminate killing of civilians, will be met with the harshest economic measures seen in a generation. I support the bipartisan bill introduced today in the House, and urge its unanimous passage in the Senate, as soon as possible.”
