Hatch to Hold Finance Hearing on Proposed Medicare Part B Demo

WASHINGTON – Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) will convene a hearing on Tuesday, June 28, to examine the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) proposed drug rule for Medicare Part B. The hearing, titled “Examining the Proposed Medicare Part B Drug Demonstration,” will take place at 10:00 a.m. in Room 215 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building.

“Since it was first announced, members on both sides of the aisle have rightly raised concerns with this deeply ill-conceived rule,” Hatch said.  “It proposes alarming changes to Medicare Part B’s drug payment model that risk disrupting delivery models for health providers and overall care for vulnerable seniors across the country. With this hearing, members will have the opportunity to hear from CMS on how the rule will affect both patients and providers, question the agency on its rationale for the rule, and express concerns with the proposal.”

The following witness is scheduled to testify:

  • Dr. Patrick Conway, Acting Principal Deputy Administrator, Deputy Administrator for Innovation and Quality, and Chief Medical Officer, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, United States Department of Health and Human Services, Baltimore, MD
