Hatch to Hold Finance Hearing on MACRA
WASHINGTON – Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) will convene a hearing on Wednesday, July 13, to examine the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) implementation of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA). The hearing, titled “Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015: Ensuring Successful Implementation of Physician Payment Reforms,” will take place at 10:00 a.m. in Room 215 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building.
“Repealing and replacing the Medicare sustainable growth rate (SGR) was an immense bipartisan achievement spearheaded by the Republican-led Congress last year,” Hatch said. “By ending the annual “doc fix” crisis, seniors no longer have to worry about a funding shortfall for Medicare year after year and are now able take comfort in knowing their doctors will not be threatened by Washington’s inaction. The reforms passed by Congress reflected years of work by the Finance Committee, and this hearing will allow members the opportunity to hear from CMS on its plans to implement the law to ensure it is reflective of Congress’s intent, and to express feedback heard from constituents and stakeholders.”
