Hatch to Convene Hearing on IRS Challenges and the 2018 Tax Filing Season
SALT LAKE CITY – Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) today announced that on Thursday, April 12, 2018, the committee will hold a hearing on the 2018 tax filing season and how they plan to address future challenges at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The hearing will take place at 10 a.m. in Dirksen Senate Office Building Room 215.
“With the 2018 tax filing season in full swing, the IRS has a lot on its plate as it implements a modernized tax code that will help U.S. workers and improve America’s global competitiveness,” Hatch said. “Acting Commissioner Kautter will come before the Finance Committee to discuss the agency’s plans to address current challenges, as well as its efforts to ensure that the current tax season goes smoothly and efficiently. The hearing will focus on making certain the agency is well staffed and has the technology it needs to serve tax payers, reduce fraud and keep taxpayer information secure.”
