Grassley, Wyden named 2019 Champions of Retirement Security
WASHINGTON
– The Insured Retirement Institute (IRI) today honored Senate Finance Committee
Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Ranking Member Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) with the
organization’s “Champion of Retirement Security” award for leadership to
advance legislative solutions to address the nation’s looming retirement crisis
by helping Americans save more for retirement.
“Committing
to saving for future needs is difficult enough, but it is also clear that many
Americans don’t have access to a retirement-savings plan. For those who are
able to save, it can be daunting to make sure that sufficient funds are set
aside to live in retirement as well as make sure they last throughout
retirement. As chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, I will continue to
work with my colleagues on solutions that help more American workers save for a
secure retirement. I am grateful to the Insured Retirement Institute for this
award and for the work this industry has done to advance this important
legislation,” Grassley said.
Grassley
supports several legislative elements of IRI’s Federal Retirement Security
Blueprint, including the Retirement Enhancement and Savings Act (RESA),
which he had previously supported as a member of the committee. Now in his role
as Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, Grassley’s support of RESA has
extended to support of the enactment of the Setting Every Community Up for
Retirement Enhancement (SECURE) Act.
Established
in 2013, the IRI Champion of Retirement Security Award recognizes the important
work done by public policy makers to enhance retirement security in the United
States.
