Grassley Praises CMS Medicaid Modernization
WASHINGTON
– Senate
Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) today praised the
announcement made by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services regarding
reforms to the Medicaid program that will allow more flexibility for states
while they continue to care for and protect individual Americans and
communities at most risk.
“Each state faces different problems. What might be best in California or Kansas might not be helpful in Iowa or New York. State governments know the individual needs of their residents and can be more responsive to those needs than any top-down decree from Washington. State governments are also more accountable to their voters than faraway federal bureaucrats. I will continue to review the proposal and listen to feedback. It appears the improvements announced by Administrator Verma will provide more flexibility and accountability in the way states administer Medicaid. This should amount to better health results, lower drug prices and more value for our vulnerable populations, all while providing more protection for taxpayers,” Grassley said.
