Grassley Announces First Trade Hearing of 2001

Hearing: "Globalization and American Trade Policy"

Date/time: Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at 10 a.m.

Location: 215 Dirksen Senate Office Building

Description: Sen. Chuck Grassley, chairman of the Committee on Finance, and Sen. Max Baucus, ranking member, will convene the committee's first trade hearing of the year. The hearing will present an overview of U.S. trade policy, with a focus on principal trade policy challenges and opportunities. Its aim is to look at the benefits to the United States from globalization, and how best to continue both the process of enhancing global economic interdependence, and maintaining the tremendous benefits that flow to the American economy as a result. The hearing also will deal with the importance of maintaining America's leadership role in building and sustaining the international trading system.
