Finance Committee Clears SSA and PBGC Nominations
WASHINGTON – The Senate Finance Committee today advanced the nominations of Andrew Saul, to be Commissioner of the Social Security Administration (SSA), Gordon Hartogensis, to be Director of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) and Gail Ennis, to be Inspector General of the Social Security Administration (SSA).
“I am proud of the Finance Committee for advancing these three key nominations as we continue to fill much needed positions within agencies that manage programs struggling to remain solvent, like social security and the PBGC,” said Hatch. “Both Saul and Ennis have the experience and qualifications to help guide the modernization attempts within SSA. As we here in Congress continue to address the insolvency challenges surrounding multiemployer pension programs, I am confident Hartogensis will work with us to pull these plans out of unsustainability. I look forward to a quick and fair confirmation by the full Senate for all of these nominees.”
Saul and Ennis advanced unanimously. Hartogensis advanced by a vote of 25-2.
An executive summary, including a breakdown of the vote, will be posted here.
