Delaware Seniors Get New Healthcare Option

WASHINGTON -- Senate Finance Committee Chairman William V. Roth, Jr. (R-DE) today applauded the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) for granting Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware's request to offer Medicare beneficiaries in Delaware a new HMO option.

"This is great news," Roth stated. "I am extremely gratified that Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware has decided to offer Delaware seniors a new Medicare plan option throughout the state.

"I have been working diligently the last few years to ensure that Medicare beneficiaries have health care options and opportunities for improved coverage. Last year, the Balanced Budget Adjustment Act of 1999 included changes to stabilize the Medicare + Choice program. I am pleased to see the plans are starting to respond.

"I am delighted that HCFA is working with managed care organizations to offer new and expanded service areas for Medicare beneficiaries."
