COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES HEARING ON SOCIAL SECURITY


WASHINGTON -- The Senate Finance Committee will meet to discuss general revenue financing of Social Security, Chairman William V. Roth, Jr. (R-DE) today announced.

The Committee will hold the hearing on Tuesday, February 9th, in room 215 Dirksen, beginning at 10 am. The following witnesses have been invited to testify:

Panel I
The Honorable David M. Walker, Comptroller General of the United States, General Accounting Office.

Panel II
The Honorable Edward M. Gramlich, Ph.D., Governor, Federal Reserve System; and Chair, 1994-1996 Advisory Council on Social Security.
Robert Greenstein, Executive Director, Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.
David S. Koitz, Legislative Specialist, Congressional Research Service.
C. Eugene Steuerle, Ph.D., Senior Fellow, The Urban Institute.
