Baucus Welcomes New Finance Committee Member

Senator Ensign to join panel

Washington, DC – U.S. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D.-Mont.) is welcoming the assignment of a new Republican Senator to the panel. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) announced that Senator John Ensign (R-Nev.) will fill the seat of the late Senator Craig Thomas (R-Wyo.). The Finance Committee oversees U.S. policy ranging from taxes to trade to Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and welfare programs.

“I am pleased to welcome my good friend and colleague Senator John Ensign to the Committee,” Baucus said. “Senator Ensign is a hardworking man with a long history of service to the people of Nevada. I look forward to working together with John on the many important issues that lay ahead for the Finance Committee in the 110th Congress.”
