Baucus Statement Regarding Economic Stimulus

The economic stimulus package I've put together will provide the economy with an immediate shot in the arm by stimulating the economy in the short-run and fostering fiscal responsibility in the long-run. Most importantly it will give the states the funding they need to make it through the financial crises they currently face. We must act now to strengthen our economy and reduce unemployment.

I met with the White House in December before I finalized my plan and look forward to continuing discussions in the coming weeks. By working together, we can pass and effective, immediate, and responsible stimulus plan that will spur the economy and create more jobs.
