Re: Baucus Seeks Momentum Following White House Fiscal Summit with Congressional Leaders
Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) called on members of Congress to build on today’s White House summit and make progress toward an agreement on the year-end fiscal issues. From Chairman Baucus:
“Sitting down face-to-face in meetings like today’s will foster the kind of dialogue we need to avoid the fiscal cliff. There are 45 days left before the deadline, and everyone knows the stakes are high. It will take action on both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue to reach an agreement.”
“The fiscal cliff would impact every American and threaten our recovery, so partisan politics cannot get in the way of a solution. Democrats and Republicans need to come together around a balanced approach that provides certainty to American families and businesses, supports job creation and expands opportunities so that we can get the economy back on the right course.”
