Baucus Hails Senate confirmation of Key Administration Nominations
Finance Chairman says nominees needed now on health care reform, economic recovery, and international trade efforts
Washington, DC – Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) today commended the Senate’s confirmation, by unanimous consent, of William V. Corr, to be Deputy Secretary at Health and Human Services, Demetrios Marantis, to be Deputy United States Trade Representative (USTR), and Alan B. Krueger, to be Assistant Secretary for Economic Policy at the Department of Treasury. The Finance Committee favorably reported the nominations on Tuesday. Baucus today reiterated his support for and expectations of the newly confirmed officials.
“The action we saw in the Senate today on these nominations reflects their strong qualifications and our confidence in their ability to tackle the issues facing America. Now it’s time to get down to work,” Baucus said. “I expect to be checking in over the coming months to make sure they are on track and have the support needed to do their part in fixing the health care system, breaking down foreign trade barriers, and healing the economy. I congratulate them, and I look forward to working with each.”
