Baucus Applauds Census Data Showing More than a Million More Americans Have Health
Insurance

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) today applauded the Census Bureau’s report that more than a million more Americans secured health insurance last year than in 2010 – the most significant drop in the number of uninsured Americans in the last decade.  The report showed a large increase in coverage of young adults, which is the result of a provision in the Affordable Care Act that allows young people to remain covered by their parents’ insurance until age 26.  The report also showed the rate of people covered by private insurance held steady after having declined each year for the last decade.  From Chairman Baucus:

“Health reform is helping insure more and more Americans and boosting access to high-quality care.  We’ll see the number of insured Americans continue to grow as the law is implemented over the next few years.  And as the list of health reform’s successes grows, it is further evidence that attempts to undermine the law will only result in less coverage and higher costs.”
