Baucus Announces Chris Dawe Will Join Finance Committee Health Policy Team
Washington, DC – Senate Finance Committee Chairman Senator Max Baucus (D-Mont.)today announced that Chris Dawe will join the Finance Panel’s Health and Welfare Team as a professional staff member. Dawe has worked on numerous issues under theCommittee’s jurisdiction in his current position as health care legislative aide to Senator John Kerry (D-Mass.), a senior member of the panel.
“Chris will be a great addition to our health policy team,” Baucus said. “The Finance Committee will tackle comprehensive health reform in the first part of next year, and Chris’s substantial knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and other health policies will be an asset in that process. We have a lot of work ahead of us to createa quality, affordable health care system, and I’m glad to have Chris working with usas we prepare now to meet that challenge.”
Dawe’s health care policy work for Senator Kerry concentrated on the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, Medicare, Medicaid, and delivery system reform policy. Previously Dawe worked on similar issues in his position as a Legislative Analyst for Jennings Policy Strategies, Inc., where he conducted policy research in the areas of payment and delivery system reforms in Medicare and private health care markets. Dawe has also served as Deputy Director for Global Health at the Clinton Global Initiative, andas a Market Analyst for Partners Health Care System in Boston, Massachusetts. A native of Dighton, Mass., Dawe graduated magna cum laude from Bowdoin Collegewith a dual major of Economics and Government and Legal Studies.
