Baucus Announces Cathy Koch as Finance Committee Tax Chief
Washington, DC – Senate Finance Committee Chairman Senator Max Baucus (D-Mont.)today named Cathy Koch as Tax Chief for the Senate Finance Committee. Koch has served as the Acting Chief since January.
“Cathy has been an invaluable advisor and member of the tax team and I look forward to continuing to work with her in the future,” Baucus said. “As the Finance Committee works to solve the current financial crisis, initiate comprehensive health reform, and explore tax reform, Cathy’s expert knowledge of tax and economic policy makes her a tremendous asset. I’m glad to have Cathy and the entire Finance tax team working with me to solve the challenges facing America.”
Koch formerly served as Senior Tax Policy Advisor and Staff Director of the Energy Tax Finance Subcommittee for Senator Jeff Bingaman, where she focused on energy tax policy. Prior to that, she was Director of Global Government Affairs for Amgen Inc. She has worked at Washington Counsel Ernst & Young LLP and was an Adjunct Professor of Microeconomics and Public Finance at Georgetown University’s GraduatePublic Policy Institute. Koch also worked at Price Waterhouse Coopers LLP, and began her career with the Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation.
A native of Yardley, PA., Koch earned her Ph.D. in Economics from Georgetown University.
