Hatch to Hold Finance Hearing on Welfare and Poverty
WASHINGTON – Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) will convene a hearing on Thursday, October 29, to explore solutions and promote self-sufficiency for families living in poverty. The hearing, titled “Welfare and Poverty in America,” will take place at 10:00 a.m. in Room 215 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building.
“Poverty is a multi-generational condition that affects many Americans trying to make ends meet for their families,” Hatch said. “This hearing will give members of the Committee the opportunity to learn and understand more about deep and persistent poverty as well as promising programs that can help families with the support and skills they need to be self-sufficient. By understanding and focusing on promoting work and work supports for struggling families, we can assist those living in poverty.”
