Senate & House Customs Conferees to Hold Public Meeting

WASHINGTON – Today, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-Texas) announced the Senate and House conference committee on H.R. 644, the Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act of 2015, will hold a public meeting at 5:45 p.m. on Monday, December 7, in Room S-211 in the U.S. Capitol Building.

“The Senate and House conferees are continuing to make great progress in resolving the differences between their respective bills to authorize U.S. Customs and Border Protection and strengthen trade enforcement efforts at the border,” said Hatch and Brady. “This meeting will give conferees an opportunity to formally discuss the legislation as we continue work to get a strong bipartisan Customs bill signed into law before the end of the year.” 

Hatch and Brady serve as the Chair and Vice Chair of the conference committee, respectively.

Additional Senate conferees include:  Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) along with Committee members John Cornyn (R-Texas), John Thune (R-S.D.), Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.), Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.).  House conferees include: House Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Sander Levin (D-Mich.) along with Committee members Pat Tiberi (R-Ohio), Dave Reichert (R-Wash.) and Linda Sanchez (D-Calif.).
