Hatch Announces Finance Hearings on Administration’s Budget with Top Officials

WASHINGTON – Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) today announced he will convene three hearings next week to examine the administration’s budget request for the Department of Treasury, Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

“From their wallets to the doctor’s office, these tax and health agencies impact the financial and physical wellbeing of citizens across the country every day,” Hatch said. “Taxpayers have the right to hear how the administration plans to spend their hard earned dollars, and with these three hearings, I look forward to examining each agency’s proposed budget and asking tough questions of their leading officials. It is my hope that despite partisan budgets in the past, the President will use his last term to lay out a fiscally responsible plan that promotes a strong, pro-growth economy with healthy citizens.”

The hearing on the Department of Treasury’s budget request will take place on Wednesday, February 10, at 10:30 a.m. in Room 215 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building.

The hearing on the IRS budget request will take place on Wednesday, February 10, at 2:00 p.m. in Room 215 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building.

The witness at Wednesday’s hearing will be:

·         The Honorable John Koskinen, Commissioner, Internal Revenue Service, Washington, DC

The hearing on the HHS budget request will take place on Thursday, February 11, at 10:00 a.m. in Room 215 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building.

The witness at Thursday’s hearing will be:

·         The Honorable Sylvia Mathews Burwell, Secretary, United States Department of Health and Human Services, Washington, DC
