Chronic Care Working Group Releases Comments on Options Paper

Finance Committee Moves Ahead on Effort to Improve Medicare for Seniors with Chronic Conditions

WASHINGTON – Today, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, and Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., along with Senators Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., and Mark Warner, D-Va., co-chairs of the Finance Committee Chronic Care Working Group, released submissions responding to the working group’s policy options paper, released in December 2015.

“We are thankful for the many constructive comments as we continue to seek solutions to help the millions of seniors in Medicare dealing with multiple chronic conditions, and those who care for them,” the senators said. “Armed with this feedback, we can now move forward in our efforts to assemble a legislative product that can be introduced and advanced through the committee.”

Last May, the committee launched a bipartisan initiative to explore cost effective solutions to improve health outcomes for Medicare patients living with one or more chronic conditions. On January 29th, the working group received 327 submissions from interested stakeholders across the country who provided thoughtful ideas on ways the Medicare program can better deliver health care to beneficiaries with multiple chronic illness.

The stakeholder comments can be found here.
